What's this for?
Notifyr is meant for people who want to share their Flickr photos
with others, especially in cases where the people you want to share with don't use RSS, or even use the
web much. That's the main reason it is possible to subscribe without registering, logging in etc.
You can just send someone a link
that will subscribe them to your
Flickr page (they'd still have to click
it, though ;-))
Hopefully this would be a tool for people who want to share their baby pictures with their family,
trip photos with friends, art experiments with fellow artists, whatever. The idea is to let folks share
their photos automatically without having to send emails when new pics are uploaded, or forcing the
recipents to use RSS readers, join websites etc.

No registration - isn't that insecure?
Not really. There is no page that lists a user's subscribed feeds, so no one can find out what
anyone's watching. Every page is checked 1-2 times a day, so there's no risk of mail flooding.
Every email contains an unsubscribe link, so it's easy to cancel a subscription if you like to, and
has [Notifyr] in the subject line, so it's easy to find them all if you want to erase everything, or
set a filter to put them in a special directory. In short, ff someone out there wants to spam people
with their photos, they have much more efficient ways to do this than here...

Are you going to give someone my email address?
No way. I'd sooner shut down the site than give out any email.
-
Are you associated with Flickr in any way?
No. This is just something I built to play with Ruby On Rails
a bit and hopefully build something useful. No business relation to Flickr, or anyone, at all.
